You step into the garden surrounding the ruined walls.
Did they always reach so high, and cast such shade?

THE TOWER I

The tower is simple in its concept.

There are two logical premises
Upon which the foundation has been set:
First, that perfection may be occupied and thereby claimed;
Second, that we know where it is to be found.

From there, the choice is obvious,
Isn't it?
Go forth and claim it!
Ascend to the heavens
Amass your wealth and power and build a monument
To yourself
To what you will become
The perfection that you know you are meant to attain

Wide at the bottom
Narrowing heavensward
Stone and iron and beams and altars
A marvel of careful engineering
A ziggurat that will stand for the ages
A symbol of your righteousness
Of your merit
Of your truth
And you will be welcomed
And lauded
And celebrated in eternity
Nothing will stand in the way of the tower's rise
There is no force that can deny your dominion

Yet
There are two logical premises
Upon which the foundation has been set

And what should befall you
If on either point
You were wrong?
